SOLAR

Solar – Australia is home to some of the world’s largest solar power plants. For instance, the Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) project located in Port Augusta, South Australia, is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It features over 3 million solar panels and has a capacity of 280 megawatts, providing clean energy to thousands of homes.

Hydrogen

Hydrogen – Australia is emerging as a global leader in hydrogen production, positioning itself at the forefront of the hydrogen economy. With its abundant renewable energy resources and expertise in large-scale energy production, Australia has significant potential to become a major exporter of hydrogen.

Wind

Wind – Australia possesses vast wind resources and has made significant progress in harnessing wind energy for electricity generation. As of 2021, Australia had over 100 wind farms spread across the country, collectively generating more than 10 gigawatts (GW) of clean, renewable power.

Battery

Battery – Australia is becoming a global leader in battery storage technology, particularly in the context of renewable energy integration. One notable example is the world’s largest lithium-ion battery, the Hornsdale Power Reserve, in South Australia.

Hybrid

Hybrid – Australia is increasingly adopting hybrid renewable energy systems that combine multiple sources of clean energy, such as solar, wind, and energy storage, to maximize efficiency and reliability.

EMPLOYMENT

The large amount of renewable energy projects across Australia is helping create new and innovative pathways for those looking for a career in the renewable energy sector. There will be thousands of jobs in the construction of the projects and their operation once completed.
